Landor commissioned Chris Mitchell to create a friendly illustrative cow character for their Kin Dairy brand design project. The cow had to appear proud, oozing with confidence as she is an A2 cow - the 'best in show'. Kin farmed fresh milk is a premium quality milk that is friendly on the stomach as it sourced from special Australian A2 cows exclusively grazed on Kin farms. The cow portrait focused on head and shoulders, to help project an engaging and heathy cow character.

The client loved the confidence and authority demonstrated in some of the chosen style examples from the Epic Icons folio site. Chris provided digital pen loose sketches of alternative character poses for early consideration. A three quarter pose without horns was chosen to develop further for final vector artwork. The final artwork was recoloured by Landor to provide other artwork versions for product variants.
Any cow was not going to cut it, to feature as a brand icon the cow required character.
